that's me.

the storyteller.
the place maker.
the leader.
the architect.
the design thinker.
the life lover.

If your time is short:

I am a design leader, life-lover, critical & creative thinker with a love for storytelling. With more than 10 years of experience helping startups and high growth organizations manage design teams, consultants, & clients, in the development of design concepts, spatial strategies, and branded experiences. I have built a broad portfolio of commercial, hospitality & corporate real estate projects around the world. I am excited by how the infusion of elements of fun, empathy, and efficiency into the design process can become motivators for loyalty, camaraderie, success, and most importantly, happiness. As a ‘glomad’, I have seen all seven continents, living in Sydney, Miami, New York & Paris.

Long Story Short:

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia then re-raised in South Florida.

A graduate of the University of New South Wales & Cornell University, I studied Architecture and Design & Environmental Analysis .

While serving on the Academic Board of the University of Sydney, I obtained my Master of Architecture with Distinction.

I joined Albert Angel Architecture and Design in New York City in 2014 as Design Architect to work on their hospitality projects in West Africa. In 2015 I moved to Paris, France to help create Kwerk, a co-working start-up. While wearing many hats and leading many projects as Project Architect, I also served as one of the Creative Leaders of Kwerk, creating its brand identity, philosophy, personality, and designing the experience, the spaces & the furniture.

In 2018, returning to New York City, ‘Me’ became ’We’ as I joined WeWork as a Design Manager for Powered By We (PxWe). You can learn more about PxWe here. While leading WeWork’s multi-disciplinary Enterprise project execution teams, I oversaw our projects from pitch to completion and all the way through to operations. I managed projects in the United States, Canada & the Middle East. I took great pride in developing WeWork's data-driven approach to designing, building, and operating workplaces to implement directly to our Enterprise client’s spaces. I ensured that our joint vision was executed to the highest standards, meeting both our and our client’s creative, cultural, and business goals.

The next chapter, Saltmine. At Saltmine we build better workspaces. Saltmine is the digital design platform for enterprise businesses and real estate teams to seamlessly plan, design, and optimize their workplace – all in a timely fashion. I currently lead the Customer Success team to ensure our clients can optimize their real estate, plan their future of work, and design spaces that empower people. 😊

My current focus is on leading, mentoring and inspiring diverse teams through spatial planning & experience design. What excites me is how the infusion of elements of fun, empathy, technology and efficiency into the design process (or any business process), can extend experiences for people and become motivators for loyalty, camaraderie, success, and most importantly, happiness.

Through seeing all seven continents, with built work on five, and living on three, my global awareness is a key factor in my ability to connect with design intuition to my team members and clients.

I pride myself on instilling hope and restoring order through imagination. My design and leadership style aim to infuse elements of play, fun and humor.  My mix of classical techniques with a contemporary approach to both, has been a winning combination.

I strive to see each project as an immersive experience. I believe that it is not enough to just design buildings, spaces and things, but it is necessary that stories are told that echo those who are living, working and using them. Thus, I am inspired by art & history, I use play to mimic nature or the design of a city, I highlight local cultures, push modularity, awaken the senses and inspire.

Telling stories through architecture and design is at the heart of phill's-osophy.
History, nature, the city and local cultures are the main characters.
And through the staging of these stories, play is continually renewed.
